I feel more aligned and taller

I am really enjoying the Feldenkrais class. It was not anything I’d done before I took your class. I signed up because a friend told me she stopped having back pain after starting the class. I feel more aligned and taller after class. My goal was to improve my skeletal health and I think I’ve done that. Plus it is easy and fun. I hope Ashby Ponds  continues to offer it and maybe more frequently.

More flexible and pain free

Pain relief

I want to thank you for the pain relief and mobility your Feldenkrais class has given me. Everyday chores, even just getting out of bed, are easier. Help you manage pain

I am a woman of advanced age who suffers from debilitating pain from fibromyalgia, neck pain and spinal stenosis. Monica Browne’s practice of the Feldenkrais Method has helped me manage my pain that no other doctors or medical practitioners have been able to provide. Relieved my chronic lower back pain

Feldenkrais classes relieved my chronic lower back pain and improved my posture. Initially I was skeptical, the movements small & gentle, but after the first class I felt better. Gradually I began to understand how I was using my body incorrectly. The body scan at the beginning and end of the class created an awareness of my body’s poor alignment. I started the classes six months ago. Now when someone mentions aches and pains I tell them about Feldenkrais.

Physical and therapeutic value

I have been attending Feldenkrais classes with Monica Brown for over a year. I travel from Vienna each week. I can highly recommend the physical and therapeutic value of the Feldenkrais class. Monica is an excellent teacher; patient and kind as she guides us through each movement. I would highly recommend these classes for any age group. My very first class, the tingling disappeared.

Because of a pinched nerve in my neck, I had constantly tingling on my head, neck and shoulder (right side) which was very irritating. Physical therapy and acupuncture did not solve the problem. Gentle exercises

Years ago I had heard of the Feldenkrais Method. When Monica Browne offered the class, I signed up to find out about it. The class made me aware that movement of any body part surprisingly affects so many other parts. As a result of the gentle exercises my walking posture has improved and loosened up, also many everyday tasks are easier. With continued classes and practice, the new moves will replace the old inefficient, habitual moves that have caused me pain.

My ballet has improved since taking Awareness Through Movement classes. The coordination of movement and control of my body are noticeably better, although I am not consciously aware of how the transformation has taken place. One must take the class consistently to begin seeing a difference. At first, I decided to stay with the practice because it is so relaxing. Over time, I felt a big difference in my physical abilities. It is not like an exercise class to make you fit or burn calories, although I have picked up movements to incorporate in workouts. Since it seems to the quantitative mind that you are not accomplishing anything during the session, some people may have difficulty to prioritize going to class. Yet the class is extremely productive on a subconscious level of how your brain interacts with your body’s movement. Especially if you would be described as a klutz or injury-prone, you will reap great benefits from a dedicated Feldenkrais practice. Monica is a gentle, patient teacher, but she does sometimes ask you to undertake movements that you don’t like. She lets you modify any exercise as needed. This class will fix things about you that you didn’t think could be improved.

“Regained range of motion”

I suffered for many months from a frozen shoulder and after taking a few weekly Feldenkrais sessions with Monica, I regained range of motion for my right arm and shoulder.  Her private sessions also helped with the work  on my spine and it has reduced lower back discomfort, and lessened hip pain, allowing me to walk with more ease. The Feldenkrais treatment for my feet also has helped me to continue my walking routine and walking enabled me to no longer need inserts in my shoes. I still practice the exercises Monica taught me during my private sessions and they continue to help me keep the benefits noted above.
